Percentages, availability et al. when downloading only parts

How does the availability and percentages-complete work out when I have selected "don't download" on, say, all but one file in a torrent (let us call this "File X")?

More specifically - When I click the list of peers, and see % beside each peer, is that how many percent of File X *they* have downloaded, or how many percent of entire torrent they have downloaded?

Also, how do other peers see my %? Do they see my percentage as how much I have of file X, or do they see my percentage as how many % of the entire torrent I have downloaded?

Same with availability - Is this affected by what files I have selected to download/skip?

It's all calculated based on the entire torrent, not your selection in it.

So if I am trying to get one file from a rather large torrent with non-ideal availabilities - I might still get that file even though availability is <1 ?

If you turn on the 'relevance' column, you will see which peers have data you want, because their value will be grater than 0.0. The value will be a percentage of the overall torrent you are interested in. So if there are 20 identical size files in the torrent, and you want one, a seeder will have a 'relevance' of 5.0 to start with, as would any peer with 100% of that file. As you get more of that file, the amount will decrease until you get all of it.

Will I see how relevant I am to other peers (and visa versa), or is such information not shared?

What is up with peers with higher percentages than me with upload speeds varying between 0.0 and 0.1 KB/s, then? If percentages are of the entire file, I mean - They should have stuff that other peers lack.

It is not connection problems as far as I know, because I have uploaded to them at normal speeds, I just do not get to download anything.
