jezmy Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Time was that you could use Google to search for torrents from within uTorrent - it would search for your term and add ".torrent" to the end, then go off to Google and get a set of *RELEVANT* results. Now, though, using Google within uTorrent dumps you on a page from Bing, without the .torrent addition. This means that what was once a very good tool has been rendered useless. This appears to be happening, not as a result of anything on the user's machine (I have scanned for and removed any Conduit files from my machine), but after the search request is sent to search.utorrent.com ...Follow this link in your browser, if you don't believe me :-http://search.utorrent.com/search.php?q=space%20odyssey&e=http%3a//google.com/search%3fq%3dtorrent%2b&u=1&source=tbYou can clearly see that this search is intended to use GOOGLE - so why does it deliver a completely useless page from Bing??? I am aware of many users on the forums complaining about the Conduit bar, but this problem is, as I said above, not related to anything installed on the computer being used - it's actually the uTorrent search URL that's responsible for what amounts to Hijacking.Having been a user of uTorrent for several years, I am afraid that I will be looking for an alternative client if this carries on. Such a shame, really. It WAS a good, reliable program, but over the past few months it seems to have developed along the lines of Windows ... randomly locking up, failing to download (as reliably as before) and simply - turning slowly and surely into a piece of s**t.I'm sorry to rant at you for this - I know that you need to make money in order to maintain and develop the program, but it seems that you are intent on shooting yourselves in the foot by doing this.I really hope that someone from uTorrent reads this and can do something about it... It's like ordering a burger and being given a hot-dog. And not even an edible hot-dog... Few people will go back again.
Firon Posted October 28, 2011 Report Posted October 28, 2011 For the random lockups, are you on Windows 7? If so, try turning off UPnP. This can help in some cases. As for the switch to Bing, this was mostly a business issue with Google that resulted in the changeover that we did a while ago, as they refused to do business with us.We'll revert the change though, as it's not really worth doing and we've gotten a good amount of feedback (not just from you) about users unhappy with the change. So you'll probably see it go back to Google within the next few hours.
