zeusrealm Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 Hi, i hope i picked the right category to put this in. Im asking this coz i wanna sort out my torrent in my client and remove the ones that i can to "clean" up my client. Ive been searching google about explaining ratios but all of the explanations ive seen have only stated ratios where the last number is 1 e.g. 2.1 (also im assuming that the first number is what uve downloaded and the second is how much has been uploaded) what about this ratio where i have a torrent that ive just left and it shows a ratio of 16.008 , whats confusing me is the two zeros, if its supposed to be 16.8 why are the two zeros b4 it ? Is it just the way its shown on utorrent? Many thanks for the help in advance
DreadWingKnight Posted October 29, 2011 Report Posted October 29, 2011 It's to do with floating point precision, it's not supposed to be 16.8 if it's displaying 16.008.
zeusrealm Posted October 29, 2011 Author Report Posted October 29, 2011 ok, but that doesnt really help much. Using a previous users post about it that i found the other day (and i hope i can use it here to show what i mean) :Scumbag = ◀ 0.1:1Leecher = 0.999:1Minimum = 1:1Good = 3:1Great = 5:1Awesome = 10:11337 = ▶ 100:1where would that particular torrent fall into in the above?Has it seeded to the amount ive downloaded?
FrenchBreadPizza Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Ratio =Amount Uploaded divided by Amount DownloadedPlease note the difference between a file ratio your site ratio. The file ratio is the ratio of each individual torrent file. If you reach 1.00 or more that means you have shared (seeded) back at least as much as you have taken for that particular torrent file that you downloaded. A Site ratio is your ratio for a particular site you are a member of. That ratio compiles all the torrents with that site's tracker and adds the upload and the download. Then does the math. Upload / Download = Site Ratio. Most sites require a site ratio of 1:1. A 16.008 ratio sounds very high to me, but perhaps you have a seedbox. 16.008 would mean that you have shared back 16 times the amount you have download for that torrent file.
zeusrealm Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 hi, thx FrenchBreadPizza, i understand it more now (i think xP), and yep, that ration is most likely very high, just about all my torrent r like that (not the exact figures), i dont have a seedbox as ive never really heard of it. The reason for this is that ive simple allowed them so seed for months on end for a two reasons. The first one being that i didnt know anything about upload ratios and didnt know i could find it out on the web till now and so i just decided to let them seed untill i saw the green tick next to the torrent and then id be like 'oh, ok its finished seeding, i can delete that torrent now :D', the second reason being the main one, i have utorrent set to start automatically on login, and coz of that about 70% of the times ive logged on, ive completely forgotten utorrent was running and there for has been seeding the the entire day plus all the rest of the times ive forgotten the program was started. But seeing as what has happened coz of that, im gonna take it as a good thing . Unless that there is a problem with uploading that much that i havent realized yet o_O.I'll use ur reply to see if im able to delete any torrents now ^w^Of topic, was french pizza bread like? any good o.O?
