uTom Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 I am using uTorrent 3.0 Build 25806, 32-Bit, in Windows XP.[CHECKED] Put new downloads in: Z:\Torrents\downloading[CHECKED] Move completed downloads to: Z:\Torrents\completed[CHECKED] Append the torrent's label[NOT CHECKED] Only move from the default download directory[CHECKED] Store .torrents in: C:\torrents[NOT CHECKED] Move .torrents to finished jobs to:[CHECKED] Automatically load .torrents from: Z:\Torrents\dropThe problem is that if I use the above settings then the "Automatically load .torrents from" does not work. However, when I start uTorrent then those torrent files in "Z:\Torrents\drop" is loaded. If I use a load folder on my C: drive it works as it should. The Z: drive is a network mapped drive.\ Tom
DreadWingKnight Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 The Z: drive is a network mapped drive. This is why.
uTom Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 Thanks for the quick answer. One follow up question (actually two); Why does all the other "Z:\xxx" settings work and why does uTorrent load the torrents from the drop folder when it is started?\ Tom
DreadWingKnight Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Because of quirks in how network shares behave.
Blinding Posted November 9, 2011 Report Posted November 9, 2011 I ran a similar configuration for a while. The difference was that the network shared drive was local to the system utorrent was running on. From other systems I could drop into z:\new-torrents as a quick and easy way to add them to the queue. Is there a reason not to have the drop folder local to the utorrent system? The disk usage is negligible; torrent files are not that big and don't stay there long.
