CommandrKeen
I tried my best to look around the forums to see if there was an answer but I don't have a ton of time to look between school and work so my apologies if I am repeating a question already asked and answered. But, I have done port forwarding on my Actiontec router/modem and on Windows Firewall the correct port, both TCP and UDP with the correct IP address entered in too. I still get a "no incoming connections" error message. I am still downloading and uploading fine it's just that all my torrents go red after a bit. I checked to see if my port was open on two different sites and they both said the port was open, but, utorrent says its closed so I am not sure whats's going on. Also, I am using BTGuard proxy and encryption Thanks
n3mes1s
I have exactly the same problem. I have all the ports opened , in fact i have all the traffic opened to my pc (i have dmz on) and i opened the port i am using in utorrent already in the router just in case, i have the windows firewall deactivated and i still get the red flag in utorrent 3.0. I download and upload just fine, but sometimes i get red torrens after a while. The weird thing, this didnt happen days ago, and i did nothing on the pc in this time. Any ideas?? n3mes1s
Well, i changed the pid of the trackers and it seems the torrents keep ok but the red exclamation mark is still there, ¿anyone noticed this issue?
CommandrKeen
How did you change the pid? And, what is the pid?
CommandrKeen
I just checked a little more in depth at the torrent and the tracker issue was that there was proxy error: network unreachable. So it has something to do with my proxy and perhaps the ports that are opened or unopened on that end. Bummer
DreadWingKnight
Why are you using a proxy and what proxy is it?
CommandrKeen
I'm using a proxy so my ip won't be logged by anyone. I'm using BTGuard.
DreadWingKnight
Then you're deluding yourself into thinking you're safe when you're not.Additionally, proxies basically guarantee that port forwarding won't work.
CommandrKeen
How do you know that your not safe behind a proxy?
CommandrKeen
And, the port forwarding worked the icon is a green check

DreadWingKnight
And port forwarding is useless because of the proxy.
CommandrKeen
Did you even read the paper? The only mentioning of a proxy was in the use that the person using the proxy was effectively framing someone else with infringement, which means, the proxy was working in the sense that they did not know which client was sending the HTTP request to the tracker. CommandrKeen
The port forwarding worked though
CommandrKeen
Yeah I just read that abstract again and they were talking about IP blockers not working for privacy. There is a huge difference between the two applications in the sense that they have nothing to do with each other...
BTGuard
You want the icon to be red or yellow!!!! Green is not good. That's how people are able to find you. If you note your downloads are still running but if someone tries to trace you they see btguard instead Green is only ok when you want to be found.
