Kurisu Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 For the last few days I've been trying to download three torrents, all of which note that there is a seeder present yet nothing downloads. uTorrent shows that the torrent is available (the bar is blue, not red), that the seed is online and that there's no issue with my connection -- what exactly is the issue here? It's also worth noting that I've downloaded other torrents while these three are on my queue, and all of them have downloaded just fine.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 What is the listed availability for the torrent?
Kurisu Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 It shows 1 with a completely blue bar for the availability.
Kurisu Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 http://i.imgur.com/2hAWP.pngSince some of it isn't really visible when using the image code ._.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Stop force-starting your torrents. There is no valid reason to force start more than one torrent.
Kurisu Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 I don't see what force starting torrents has to do with this issue, since the above still occurred on a normal start.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Then you don't see how tying up your connection limits and traffic on other torrents will choke off your ability to request or acknowledge pieces. So stop force starting torrents entirely and only test with the torrent you're having problems with running.
Kurisu Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 Not force starting causes a whole other issue with nothing connecting at all, regardless of if it's a seed or download.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Then you have more severe problems that should NOT be band-aid'd by using a feature that will cause other problems.http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=15992
Kurisu Posted November 3, 2011 Author Report Posted November 3, 2011 Scratch the above, some of them are connecting, it's just taking a slower time to do so.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 3, 2011 Report Posted November 3, 2011 Welcome to Rogers cable, where over 75% of p2p traffic is throttled.
Komputerman Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 The torrents may be paused on the other end. You are connected to their torrent client, but they have the torrent on their client paused, and therefore you cannot download pieces from it.You may try to find that torrent on a different tracker, or just leave it in your download queue and hope that they un-pause the torrent on their end.If this is happening on torrents with lots of seeders, then the problem may be on your end. If it's just on torrents with only a few seeders, then the problem is probably on the other end.
Kurisu Posted November 5, 2011 Author Report Posted November 5, 2011 The torrents only had one seeder each, so I'm not exactly sure where the problem was. Some other torrents I've downloaded before have also only had one or two seeders, but still worked fine, so it could very well be a problem on their end to some extent. That said, they've finally started to download after two days or so (with the same seeder), but it's going quite slowly. That's better than nothing though, so guess it's just time to be patient. Thanks for the help :>
