sMILEY4ever Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 So, the problem I'm having with uT 3.0 25824 is:1.I install uT2.I run uT3.uT loads my %appdata%/uTorrent backup w/o much of a problem4.I eventually shut down/restart the pc and uT instead of just starting(the start with windows option is checked) the uTorrent setup opens up and I get to do steps 1-3 all over again.I'm not using any AV/firewall. Windows firewall, Windows defender and UAC is disabled. All this is after a reinstall of Windows 7 Pro.I asked a friend for his uT.exe file but I still get to do 1-3 again.Any help/suggestions are welcomed.Oh and this happens just to uT, not to other programs. My specs are:
Dosmod Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 I had the same problem and here is what I did:Installed uTorrent on a fresh XP Pro SP3 installation and then copied my "Application Data\uTorrent" folder from another PC where I had all my settings ready which caused the problem.I then deleted all ".dat" and ".old" files except the "settings.dat" (which I assume holds my settings) and the problem was gone. uTorrent opens normally now.Note that I'm running winXP and another user reported that deleting these files didn't help so make sure you are in the correct folder since win7 in many cases keeps more than one folder for the same purpose.
sMILEY4ever Posted November 4, 2011 Author Report Posted November 4, 2011 I have about 300 torrents in uT. Will deleting the .dat and .old files delete all these torrents and statistics? I don't want to add them all afterwards. Is there a way to "freshen them up" so that I don't loose all that but they're as fresh as when uT is installed cleanly? Here's a list of the files in my C:\Users\sMILEY\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent directory: http://pastebin.com/xxWk2eQK without the .torrent files.p.s. Thanks for your advice/solution Dosmod.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 4, 2011 Report Posted November 4, 2011 Deleting resume.dat will reset your torrent list.
1l1 Posted November 5, 2011 Report Posted November 5, 2011 Yeah, hi, I have the same problem.Win 7 64x
sMILEY4ever Posted November 11, 2011 Author Report Posted November 11, 2011 Is there a way to export my statistics/torrent list/rss to a db then import them back?I tried deleting everything but the .dat files but I still get to reinstall over and over again. My guess is something is wrong with one of these. Is there anything I can do to fix them?p.s. I didn't post earlier due to work.
Duckbuster Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 Keep your resume.dat, just delete the settings.datThat fixed it for me.
sMILEY4ever Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 Thanks a lot Duckbuster, it worked!
