Arreck Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 I tried everything I could find on this forum. No dice.Screenshots of relevant preferences pane: http://imgur.com/a/EAB6u#0uTorrent 3.0 build 25806, Windows 7 64-bit. No scheduler, no transfer cap. I have 453 active torrents (and I have to have that many, queuing them is not an option), and the upload speed just completely disregards the set global limit. Oddly, right now, I have all my torrents paused yet upload speed still shows up as 40-50kbps.Thanks!
DreadWingKnight Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 (and I have to have that many, queuing them is not an option)WHY do you have to have that many?
Arreck Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 It's a seeding ratio thing on a site I frequent
Arreck Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 Hmm, I have a bit of extra info: even if I pause everything, upload rate is still about 40kbps. The hell? :/
DreadWingKnight Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 And what about if you stop all but about 3-5?
Arreck Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 Slowly drops back to sub 10kbps (don't get much activity on these torrents). The upload speed on the 5 I kept is always empty, with 0.1kbps appearing randomly on some of them for a split second.I tried only leaving the 3 most active ones on, and it seems to be hanging around 20kbps (limit set to 15).What's weird is despite total upload being at 20, the three individual torrents hang around 1-2kbps each in the upload speed box. Setting individual speed limit (to 1kbps) doesn't seem to have any effect either.EDIT: I tried deleting the settings files and setting them back to what you see in the original post, and now it seems to hang around 30kbps with everything seeding, with limit set to 15. Settings the UL limit lower doesn't affect the UL speed, but setting it higher makes it go faster. It appears to hang around 15-20kbps faster than what I set the UL limit to.Seriously how is this possible:http://i.imgur.com/ZvW8Z.png
kaiser2222 Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Hi, I see there seems to be no solution for this problem. I too have the same thing as 'Arreck', with win 7 64bit, just updated to utor 3 maybe this will help. (My eeepc running utorrent under xp is fine). At present on win 7 I have 18 seedings and zero peers or seeds connected, individual up and down speed totals are .2-.5 (point) total download on lower bar is 8-10 kB/s and upload 7-9 kB/s. I have confirmed this is actual internet loads with DL meter, it drops to zero with utorrent shut down. With all seedings stopped nothing changes. With global upload & d/load set at 1 each nothing changes. I have seen the speeds up to 15-25 kB/s. This using up a lot of my bandwidth for seemingly no reason. Any help/ideas would be appreciated. Regards KaiserSame thing with ' version 3' after half an hour of running down speed 25 up 33kB/s total peers & seeds nil??? I can't keep running with this!I tried everything I could find on this forum. Falc0 Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 I am getting the same problem wether its 1 torrent or multiple torrents, the upload cap does not work, I even tried it on each torrent seperatly and the uplaod cap still gets ignored
DreadWingKnight Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 did you apply rate limit to uTP yet or not?
kaiser2222 Posted November 17, 2011 Report Posted November 17, 2011 Hi, thanks for the reply but not sure what uTP is, could you explain?If I set global up and down load limits to 1 each individual uploads total 1.5 to 2 kB/s, the bottom bar shows 5 kb/s. Downloads 0 to .2 (no downloading) but the bottom bar shows 4.5 t0 5 kB/s. raising the download limit to unlimited the bottom bar shows 15-20 kB/s still no actual downloading active. During normal activity of DL & UL, utorrent is using a total of 30 to 50 kB/s more than is actually going to peers and seeds.Does this make any sense to you?Regards KaiserI just tried the 64 bit version and same problems.
rafi Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 Hi, thanks for the reply but not sure what uTP is, could you explain?try:1. pref->bendwidth->apply rate limit to uTP connection2. pref->bittorrent->limit local peers bandwidthI think that #2 is buggy, and may stop upload traffic all-together sometimes. You can also try disable IPV6 on your network adapter.Seriously how is this possible:Such questions do not apply to bugs...
kaiser2222 Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Hi rafi, thanks for the tips. Rate limit was ticked and have now applied your other best practice tips. No change in my ups and downs. 10kB/s down (no files downloading) 12kB/s uploading with total of all files seeding approx 1.3kB/s. (All phantom uploads nothing going to connected peers) Upload is limited to 1kB/s but having no effect. Others are having the same problem so it must be some bug! Same version uT running under xp is fine on my old LapTop.Regards K
rafi Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 try un-checking this: pref->bittorrent->limit local peers bandwidth , otherwise - it's either a bug or your firewall/AV...
kaiser2222 Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 Yep tried that-no effect. Running same F/W on the xp PC OK. Do you think its my bug or uT bug?Regards K
rafi Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 uT related. I think the UL speed limiter has issues. Regarding "idle" traffic, you cannot totally avoid incoming connections. Disabling DHT can help a bit.
kaiser2222 Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Sorry not to get back to you till now, been talking to the guys at 'thebox'. Now have DHT off. Overhead has now almost disappeared. It seems there was a hidden file running somewhere. It just popped up while I was trying various things. This dropped the O/H to about 1.5 & 2.0, with DHT off it was .3 & .1. Magic!Thanks for all your help. Regards K:)
