mldonkeyuser Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Hi, I'm having a problem connecting to other torrenters these days. And you know why?Because you have encrypted connections turned on by default - and mldonkey doesn´t support that yet. Why? Why do you need that feature enabled anyhow?Does it improve your security? Does it hide the fact that you're downloading torrents? No. None of that. But it results in shutting out clients that have their purpose (like being on linux or a server) but don't support encryption. It was alright when it wasn't default and it would be fine if people were informed about what it does and doesn´t. Really... If of 30 users I can not connect to 26 because they lately upgraded to 3.0.0.0, you might understand my bitterness here. If the mldonkey team had more coders, sure they would implement it, but in the meantime I'm stuck with being shut out FOR NO reason.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 Then it's time for them to get off their asses and catch up with 4-5 years ago.The encryption was put in as an anti-throttling method.
mldonkeyuser Posted November 7, 2011 Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 So what you are saying is that it actually helps against throtteling but you know what: it doesn´t. it´s just a plain useless feature, since bittorrent data is still recognised.just because everybody uses windows you can keep that facist position which is just stupid.I wouldn´t mind, you know.... it just pisses me off that it so many people shutting us other out.that about your "ass" argument.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 The protocol has been around for years. There's no valid excuse for not supporting it at this stage.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 7, 2011 Report Posted November 7, 2011 And there are clients on platforms that aren't windows that support the encryption, so that argument is useless as well.
