Utorrent wants to install every launch

Everytime i open Utorrent it wants to reinstall the software. Choose install location, firewall exception, toolbar question, etc.

Once started all downloads, RSS filters are correct.

I thought it might be an icon pointing to an incorrect path so i deleted the start menu and desktop shortcuts and reinstalled but the same thing is happening.

What could be causing this behavior?

What happens if you start the uT not from desktop icon, but directly from exe-file in Program files folder?

Launching "C:\Program Files (x86)\uTorrent\utorrent.exe" directly exhibits the same behaviour.

Seems like it can't create necessary registry records and/or configuration files. Do you install it with administrative rights?

I'm having the same problem! I've tried everything mentioned and it still reinstalls every time I click the icon.

I'm using the stable version.

I had the same problem, but only after fooling around with the appdata files for uTorrent's settings. Throw away your settings files and reinstall. Does that help?

I deleted the settings.dat and the settings.dat.old files in folder "%userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent". It now launches.

Didnt help me either. Did clean install win 7 64 had problem. Then another clean install win 7 32 still not working.Any ideas would be great thanks.

Just tried beta 3.1 build 26419.Works ok thanks.Any way to tell Torrent Privacy to work with this as it only seems to work with version that comes with Privacy? thanks.
