Granddaddavid
I am new to the Forum but have been using this torrent for some time and very pleased with it in general. I understand that download speeds will vary for all sorts of reasons, even the time of day etc, and I have had trouble sometimes using my nearest point which is Sydney, Australia, it is not available sometimes and I have even restarted my computer sometimes and it comes good. However I have had a different problem for several days now, and it is causing very slow downloads, when I run a test of my connection although it has Sydney as the option it comes up with a BIG RED CROSS when I do a test and says ''Connection failed error, timed out (10060)''. Can anyone PLEASE advise how to rectify this, THANK YOU.
mcaspi
Ignore the speed test. It doesn't always work.
Granddaddavid
Okay, thank you for your reply. Just I have never had this problem until a few days ago, wondering what it is all about? It is still doing it now, and downloads are taking forever. mcaspi
If the number of seeds and peers is low your download might be slow. Also, there might be other reasons for this.
Granddaddavid
Yes I realise that, as I tried to explain in my original post, however I have never had this failure and error number before but have had it now all the time for days, surely it must mean something ??? mcaspi
Again, ignore the speed test. It can be be an issue with the Sydney server. Try running the torrent after midnight till morning when there is less traffic.
Granddaddavid
Again thank you, however I have been using this torrent system for some time now and never had this until a few days ago.I do not like to just ignore things when I do not know why they are doing it, probably because I was an Engineer (retired now) all my working Life.Is this something that was accidentally introduced in the last update???It must mean something ??? mcaspi
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811087 Might be a server issue or something else. You can look at it and then ignore it. Your traffic is with other users and not with a server.Your ISP might have started blocking uTorrent traffic in the last few days causing what you. Granddaddavid
That link does not work for me, says it is a different operating system to mine. I wondered that, so I checked with them, they assured me the ONLY things they limit or block altogether are child pornography sites and even then only after consulting the Police.See what happens with the next software update. Granddaddavid
Okay, this driving me crazy. Still the same today, still has the BIG RED CROSS and says connection failed. My ISP says they are NOT interfering with it, everything else is working fine, download test suggests I should be able to download at 8.96 Mbps and upload at 1.04 Mbps, however I never ever get that, when it is working I often get downloads of over 1 Mbps but NOT since this connection failed message.Does anyone PLEASE have any ideas about how to fix this or get around it????I even deleted the software altogether and reinstalled it, but still the same. Granddaddavid
Yes me again, have been trying to fix this all morning, still no good. Read a lot of other posts and tried a few ideas from them, including enabling protocol encryption (made it worse), then I removed UTORRENT 3-0 altogether and installed 2-2-1, still no good so have gone back to the latest version.Does anyone else have any ideas PLEASE ??? mcaspi
I suggested that you ignore the speed test. If you want to waste your time on it, enjoy it. I am not going to comment on this.Did you try to run uTorrent after midnight? Try it, and until then, try to run a torrent for a few minutes from http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/ and see if you get a decent speed. Granddaddavid
This problem with the speed test has only happened recently, that is why I am guessing it is a fault introduced accidentally to uTorrent. At the same time as this download speeds are VERY slow and erratic, as reflected also on other topics.NO I have not tried to download after midnight, never have before either, this is a fault of some kind with uTorrent that was NOT there before.Just hoping someone at uTorrent can rectify this and the slow download speeds so we can all enjoy uTorrent again. DreadWingKnight
Considering the number of people not seeing the same behavior, I would say it's more likely a fault introduced by your internet provider than by uTorrent.
Granddaddavid
Apparently it is happening to many others judging by the posts here recently.I did consider that as I mentioned before, my ISP assured me they do NOT, of course whether you believe them or nor not.I have deleted and reinstalled uTorrent a few times hoping it would come good, the last time before I reinstalled it I installed ''the other major one'' and it ran many tests including IF my ISP was limiting me at all, and it was NOT, well not via them anyway unless they are ONLY limiting uTorrent. Maybe if uTorrent is not fixed soon I will reluctantly try them for downloading my torrents.
DreadWingKnight
http://www.slackware.com/getslack/torrents.php <-- if these torrents are slow, it's something other than your setup.
Granddaddavid
Thank you for your inputs, I had a look at that link, and quite honestly I did not know where to start, I am not that computer savy. Just removed uTorrent yet again and downloaded the other one (guessing I should NOT name it here) and it is working fine, as uTorrent used to until very recently.Think I will stick with that one until there is a fix for uTorrent. mcaspi
Granddaddavid, you wrote so many wrong things and I don't even want to start naming them. BitTorrent guys, looks to me like uTP throttling and what it does and I am experiencing the same thing if you read my post regarding Auto-disabling uTP.Granddaddavid, if you want to continue using uTorrent, just disable uTP in uTorrent's Preferences/Bittorrent. This will give you the same functioning as the software you are using now.
Granddaddavid
Just curious to know if anyone has fixed the slow downloads on uTorrent and the speed tests yet?I would like to return to uTorrent but am reluctant to until it is fixed as the other one is working so well, like uTorrent used to.Thank you................ DreadWingKnight
The problem with download speeds has nothing to do with 3.x as I'm able to get my line's limit no problem. The internal speed test is largely outside of our control for being down. Granddaddavid
Okay, thanks. I will have to stick with Vuze for now as it is working perfectly, will monitor these Forums and will return to uTorrent when it works as it used to. mcaspi
So hard to read?Granddaddavid, if you want to continue using uTorrent, just disable uTP in uTorrent's Preferences/Bittorrent. This will give you the same functioning as the software you are using now.
