Intermittent Torrent Download

Hi Guys! I was wondering if you could help me with a problem. I am in Thailand (Pattaya) at the moment and I am missing some of my programs. So I thought I would start my trusty UTorrent (2.2.1 windows) and start downloading. The problem is that when I am in my hotel room I get a red arrow icon and no downloads at all for my torrents. Doing a bit of investigating I thought the problem was that, the hotel WIFI has no open ports. I resigned myself to this fact and figured I could pop into a coffee shop with free WIFI to download what I wanted. This I did, but because it was so slow I thought it would take me a couple of days to download anything.

Now this is where it gets weird. The torrents I started in my hotel room that didn't work. Worked in the coffee shop as you would expect. Is now working in my hotel room. It is downloading no problem. But when I try to get new torrents to download in the hotel they don't. It's as if I need the WIFI (in this case in the coffee shop) to start downloading. And once it starts the hotel WIFI will allow me to continue.

Strange!!!!!!

Is there anyway I can get the torrent to download straight away in my hotel room with ought having to kick start it.
