samjerrynapoleon Posted November 19, 2011 Report Posted November 19, 2011 Hi!I want to import/download .torrent files from a website into the lovely uTorrent without first have to dowload the .torrent file. Can I do that and how?Have a nice day!/Jerry (Sweden)
jbebad Posted November 20, 2011 Report Posted November 20, 2011 Your question sounds funny. I know of three ways to get torrents. 1. You can download the torrent to your default location which is your users/userid/downloads directory, then click on the file to open it and it is loaded into utorrent. 2. You can download it and save it in the directory where you have set utorrent to automatticly load utorrents from (use the "save as". Check your prefferences. "Directories" section. If you do not have utorrent automatically deleting loaded torrent files, it will change the file type to "loaded". 3. When you download a torrent select "Open" instead of save. It will automatically open utorrent with the new torrent file. Unless you have checked the "Don't start the download automatically" it will start. If you have checked it, then you will have to start it manually. Look at the "UI Settings" under preferences at the bottom of the window there is a "When adding torrents" section.Practice and play until you get it setup the way you want. And start reading the help file.
samjerrynapoleon Posted November 20, 2011 Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 Thanks a lot for your reply jbebad!Probably I have to explain my funny problem better .Before, when I clicked at "download torrent" into the browser I came directly into uTorrrent and could start downloading the file (an .mp3, f i). Now I first have to download the .torrent file (as you discribe it in p. 2) and after that I have to click at the .torrent file to start uTorrent and the downloading process. Can you understand what I mean?I use Firefox 8.0 and uTorrent 3.0.
jbebad Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 I understand what you mean. But I do not have an answer for you. The torrent file seems to be associated with utorrent, otherwise it would not open utorrent when you clicked on the file.. I use IE9, When I select a torrent for download, it provides popup? that sais "Open", "Save", "Cancel". I select Open and it goes directly into utorrent.Perhaps it is a foxfire issue. You may try to save it to the start torrent directory as a temporary measure until you find another answer. At least then it will automatically start, once the torrent is downloaded.
samjerrynapoleon Posted November 21, 2011 Author Report Posted November 21, 2011 Thanks again for your engagement jebebad! Now I've found the solution in Firefox 8.0! You have to go to Settings/Program and there is three choices for torrent files: "Always ask", "Save file" and "Use uTorrent".And now you can guess - "Save file" was default. When I changed to "Use uTorrent" I came directly into uTorrent! Probably you have the same choices in IE and your default is "Always ask" .Bye for now ... and please be there next time I have a problem./Jerry
