chris k Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Hi All,Seems I found another .torrent which results in too many open files. This one uses 2 Gb Blocks/Pieces, and has a whole bunch-o-small files in one of the offending pieces - Causing uTorrent to halt with the dreaded "too many open files' error. You only need 1 peer for this one. Don't even need hundreds of peers or files open.. just a few peers and this one piece to be open for read/write, and uTorrent runs out of handles. The torrent is (the newly released) XPlane 10 Demo. It is a freely distributable and sanctioned torrent by the developer of the software. (www.x-plane.com)Find the .torrent file here: http://www.x-plane.com/files/X-Plane_10_Demo.torrentNote: It's a Legitimate .Torrent, so feel free to download this one for your debugging purposes. The entire torrent works, except for 1 piece, which, when uTorrent Mac tries to open the files it covers (to write out the data), it runs out of file descriptors.Cheers. Looking forward to a new version which ups the # of file descriptors/handles allowed to be open by the app.- CK.
Slipknot Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Confirmed. uTorrent will not work with the X-Planes Demo torrent and fails with the message "Error: Too many files open." It fails this way using both 10.7.2 and 10.6.8. The torrent fails between 90% and 99% completion. Too buggy for prime time. I'm abandoning the app as there are too many good BT clients for Mac to waste any more time with this turkey. Good luck. Bye
DreadWingKnight Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 And how many files are in the torrent?
chris k Posted November 27, 2011 Author Report Posted November 27, 2011 21,788 FilesYep - it's a big one.- CK.
