adam darski Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Just opening utorrent, with no torrents, triggers many p2p blocks from Peerblock. I'm sure this is supposed to be happening, but what concerns me is that some of them, after doing Google searches, are revealed to be anit-p2p services. I just opened utorrent a minute ago again with no torrents and this is what I got from Peerblock:http://imgur.com/1HZnLThis is just one example, different blocks happen at different times. Using Google I have found many reports saying that the smart broadband one is anti-p2p service. So, I don't get it, why is this happening?
DreadWingKnight Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Because the blocklist you're using is overparanoid and is only protecting you from using your internet connection properly.

I imagined it was harmless, but wasn't sure about why it was triggering anti-p2p blocks. I'm using default block lists. I've googled some of the blocks, and some of them are legitimate. I guess, I just don't understand how utorrent works in that when it opens, is it connecting to a multitude of servers that anyone can connect to and thus why I'm seeing the blocks that I am?
DreadWingKnight Posted November 28, 2011 Report Posted November 28, 2011 I've googled some of the blocks, and some of them are legitimate.I don't think many of them are. Many of the blocked organizations don't actually do anti-p2p monitoring.
