Shanano Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 Been using uTorrent for close to 4 years now with out any problems and hope to do so for many more years to come, here are some of my questions.I'm concerned about all the internet privacy crap that is going around in congress so I decided to step up on trying to protect my IP.I purchased a one month subscription to BT Guard OpenVPN. Installed and its running correctly. I also am running a P2P (PeerBlock). In your opinion is that sufficient? I've read mixed reviews on BT Guard, as to it working and not working. Obviously my ISP can see how much I download, and I also know that if they truly wanted to they could see what I'm downloading. I've never received a letter or email about having downloaded copy righted material (knock on wood). Are there other things out there that are safer? I've heard of HTTP tunneling many times but couldn't find a subscription for it. . . Nor was I sure that it would hide my IP as I want it to be hidden. It's all speculative on what works and what doesn't, but I'd prefer to keep my ass covered as best as possible. If you have any experience with past services you've used, or currently use I'd appreciate the leaving of some names so I can check them out. Any and all help I'm grateful for, Happy Torrenting,Cheers~
DreadWingKnight Posted November 26, 2011 Report Posted November 26, 2011 PeerBlock is more likely to get you caught than hide you (since the anti-p2p groups don't actually monitor from the ranges it blocks).BTGuard's reliability has been VERY low lately.VPN services CAN hide what you're doing from your ISP, but that's it.
stickyboot Posted November 29, 2011 Report Posted November 29, 2011 Publicly sharing files that others don't want you you to share will always put you at some risk of gaining attention from the wrong people. It's best to avoid it all together.
