xenosaga001 Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 I am new to uploading, I have always been a leacher I am deciding to change that. I have already uploaded my own torrent. I am wondering if I am doing it wrong because I have a 650kbps upload rate and i am only ever uploading at between 0.5kbps and 45 kbps......:/ I was just wondering if someone could tell me if I am doing something wrong or have some incorrect settings that could be causing the problem. I am not too technical about utorrents more advance settings. I am confident I can find them and change them, I just dont know what they should be or if I have the wrong ones checked. Help would be greatly appreciated!!! I can post screenshots or give details of my settings if someone tells me where to begin. btw this is my torrent: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/6836267/Legend_of_Dragoon_Official_Prima_Guideits a pdf, virus free.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 I have a 650kbps upload rate According to what?
xenosaga001 Posted November 27, 2011 Author Report Posted November 27, 2011 according to multiple internet speed tests and the Setup Guide of utorrent. some of the torrents i download i seed at around 250kbps, but It never goes higher. I dont have any limitations on uploading as far as I know, yet many of the torrents i try to seed only seed at about 5kbps.. Im just not sure whats wrong.
DreadWingKnight Posted November 27, 2011 Report Posted November 27, 2011 Outside of the ctrl+g window, uTorrent ONLY uses *byte/secMost speed test sites report in *bit/sec by default.
xenosaga001 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Report Posted November 30, 2011 I think I may have a lead to what the problem is....My top torrent shows the following flags from the peers.U IHXWhich, from this link: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=17632Referring to post 13.Says that the peer wants your client to upload, but your client doesn't want to (interested and choked) So how do I fix the "choked" part. What does it mean?
xenosaga001 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Report Posted November 30, 2011 Nevermind, I figured it out. Or at least I am pretty sure. Feel free to comment if I am wrong. After doing a bit of research, I have determind that Comcast, my ISP, has recently implemented a security script that pretty much destroys the ability to just seed...I can seed a ton while downloading something, but If I create my own torrents, the speed is less than ~40kbpsThe only solution I have found is to use a VPN. BTGuard seems like the best for bittorrent and P2P sharing. Not too bad $6.95/month, and been meaning to do it for awhile.
