uTorrent indefinitely reinstalling itself

Hi, whenever i start utorrent.exe the program keeps reinstalling itself, I re-installed it 10 times now, i tried to restart windows, etc... Re-downloaded the install from this site, nothing seems to stop uTorrent from lauching the installation setup when i try using it.

Where are you installing it to?

Have you tried exiting normally before restarting Windows?

I was having the same problem when upgrading from a previous version.

I got it to stop reinstalling itself by going to appdata.

Appdata is loacated c:\users\(username that you are logged in)\appdata. (assuming you are using windows vista/7 and your install of windows is on the c drive.)

Its also hidden so go to Tools>folder options> go to the View Tab, click the radio button that says show hidden folders, files and drives.

In the app data folder go to roaming>utorrent. I then deleted all the files that weren't .torrents.

And it started up without asking to reinstall.

Thanx for the tip, but this is exactly what i do not want to do as those files are my "config" for uTorrent and i don't want to reconfigure it after doing it so. Actually i just reinstalled win7/64bit and placed this backup folder (in Appdata) from my previous install so i could keep my config (window configuration, torrents being Dled/Seeded, speed limitation, etc...)

I guess i'll have to let it reinstall itslef each time I restart windows. :/

We may have a fix for this in the next build of 3.1. I'll let you know when it's released.
