randwill
I have been running uTorrent on my old WindowsXP computer for years with no troubles. I recently added a new Windows 7 computer. Both share the same internet connection by a SMC Barricade 70004VBR wired router. The new Windows 7 box is running uTorrent just fine with a consistent green check mark in the lower right corner. However, the XP box is not connecting, displaying the dreaded red exclamation mark in the lower corner. Are there some special considerations for uTorrent when using it on two different computers which share the same internet connection? If so, what settings do I need to address on the XP installation to get it connecting again?Thank you.
Firon
You need to use different ports on each machine and forward that port in the router's web interface.
randwill
I choose a random number (17431) and entered that in the Random Port box under Listening Port on uTorrent's Connection tab. I made a second entry on the router's interface using that number but I'm still not connecting. I made a screen shot which shows the 3 pertinenet windows.http://s474.photobucket.com/albums/rr110/kalgon/?action=view¤t=uTorrentIssue.jpgThe 47269 port is for the new Windows 7 computer which is handling uTorrent well.Is there something I've got wrong that can be seen here?
