randwill
I was having problems with an old installation (2.2.1, I think) so I scrapped it and installed the most recent version of uTorrent. I have some torrents that I would like to continue seeding but when I add them to the new version, it begins downloading the files. Which I don't want to do as I already have them complete and still in the Downloads folder. I just want to continue seeding them.Is it possible to continue seeding and if so how do I go about this? Thanks.

randwill
Thanks. I found this:http://user.utorrent.com/help/guides/migrateIt tells me:Loading torrents in µTorrentLoading a single torrent for seeding is simple enough provided you know the location of the .torrent and the files. In µTorrent, click File > Add Torrent (no default save) Browse your way to the .torrent file you wish to seed and select. Browse your way to the folder where the files are located and select the folder. The torrent should appear in the torrent window and load (you will see the % climb up as µTorrent checks the file).End quote.Which is what I had already tried. Unfortunately, when I do this, it does the % check, but then it starts downloading the file. I don't want to download the file again. I only want to seed. This new version (3.0.1) has "Add Torrent..." and "Add Torrent (choose save dir)... under File. I don't see an "Add Torrent (no default save)". Maybe that is the problem. Is there a solution? DreadWingKnight
no default save was renamed to choose save dir
randwill
I followed the instructions using "Add Torrent (choose save dir)" and it did the same thing. It checked the % to 100%, then briefly displayed "Queued" in the Status bar, then began re-downloading the file. So, no way to do this?
randwill
RESOLVED. The new installation was referring to the default Download folder and I had the actual files in another folder.
kitsunesmoon
Hello,I am not trying to bump this thread ... I just want to make sure of a few things as I am new to using Utorrent.I need to un-install an old version and download the current version as I am getting a number of errors. I have a number of downloaded torrents that I want to keep seeding so, once I install the current version of utorrent I just have to "Add Torrent (choose save dir)" and make sure I specify the drive and the folder. Correct? And I wont lose any torrents that are already complete and saved on that drive? Sorry if these are dumb questions Like I mentioned Im pretty new to this.Kitsunesmoon
randwill
Just be sure that when you "Choose save dir" that you direct it to the folder where the completed file is located. Which is what I was NOT doing at first, which is why it wasn't working for me.
