Freezes when running utorrent (and other p2p programs)

This problem actually started about half a year ago.

Whenever I am running utorrent my pc freezes for a few seconds from time to time. At first it's only like half a second and the longer utorrent is running the longer and more frequent the freezes get. The freezes are also more noticable when I'm watching a movie (for example with VLC-Player) or watching a stream (for example on Youtube).

I had this problem with both 32bit and 64bit versions of Windows 7. I formated a week ago but the problem persisted.

I already tried making an exception for it in Avira, changing the disc-cache thingy and updating my ethernet drivers, but nothing seems to help.

Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be and how to fix it?
