lagruej
Alright, so all computers in my house, have an use utorrent, however EVERY time my mom uses utorrent, everybody else gets kicked offline, wtf??? When I use it, or my brother uses it, nothing happens... but as soon as my mom gets on, our internet goes to hell, her computer still works fine, but everybody else suffers... my ps3 goes offline, my computer goes offline (for whatever reason it shows as oline and msn still works??) However nothing else functions...Basically I want to know how to fix it, I'm almost 100% sure my mom has her settings out of wack, because its only hers, any suggestions, this is driving me insane, I'm sick of being kicked off the internet for hours while she downloads... also I'd like to mention we're all using laptops, however hers is the only one that causes problems. I know it's not her speed, because we have an unlimited plan, and my computer often downloads at higher speeds than hers, but till hers takes over the entire internet, what's up with this? jbebad
You do not say how your home network is setup. Are you all connected to a router?Let me give you some background. I use a d-link router. It handles my PPPoE connection. It also generates IP's for each workstation connecting to the router. On my router I reserve specific IP's for workstations that use uTorrent because of the Firewall on the router and Port forwarding done by the router. I setup uTorrent to use different ports on each workstation. So the router knows that on port "x" to forward the request to workstation "a", port "y" to workstation "b", etc. If you are using Dynamic ports in uTorrent, it may be possible for one uTorrent to clobber another - I DO NOT know for sure. I do not know if uTorrent checks to see on the local lan what port other uTorrents are using on the local lan prior to creating a dynamic one. lagruej
Sorry, I'm not the greatest when it comes to this stuff.... ummm I don't even know how to describe what we have, it's a white box we got from Bell and it acts as both the modem and the router... we have one computer wired, but all the laptops are wireless. We aren't trying to run Utorrent all at the same time... It's just say I'm playing PS3, and then my mom turns utorrent on, on her laptop, boom kicked off PS3.... but in another scenario if I was laying PS3 and I turned on Utorrent on my laptop, no problems at all.
