Earwig
I am using utorrent 2.0.4 as its the only version I can get around the constant disk overload problem but I have since upgraded to a gbit line and hve encountered a new error that I have not seen before.....Not enough memory available to complete the request. This stops the torrents dead in their tracks. If I restart utorrent all seems fine again but after a day or so the error will return. The platform is windows 2008 server rc2 and it runs on a ful xeon with 16gb ram and has 2x750gb drives which are in raid 0. Disk space remaining is 1.2tb.....Anyone have ny ideas what the problem might be please ?

Earwig
Ok, so I updated to the latest version and now have disk overload. Constantly. Why is the buffer set to 1800 and no more ? Why can I not use anywhere near my 16gb ? It seems this client just cannot handle gbit speeds ?
DreadWingKnight
Why is the buffer set to 1800 and no more ? uTorrent is a 32-bit process. The instant the process exceeds 2GB of ram use, it WILL crash. How big are the files you're downloading?Do you have preallocate turned on?Do you have sparse files turned on? Earwig
Ah ok, I now see why it would crash. Any plans for a 64Bit version ?Anyway, I have now tunred on Pre allocate files and I have also set Sparse Files to *TrueI have also set Diskio No Zero to FalseCache size I have set to 1024 and everything else in Cache is ticked with the exception of Increase automatic size when thrashing and turn off read cache when Upload is slow. All others are ticked.File sizes vary between very smal, maybe 100MB to around 10GB in size.I have also set up an RSS feed to snatch torrent files from a single site feed. I have about 350 torrents with at any one time only around 10 or so with any activity...The amount of torrents does not appear to have any effect on the problem though. I can have only 10 in the client and it will eventually lead me to the problems....

Earwig
Ok, so it seems to work to a fashion. It no longer hangs or freezes but I still have Disk Overload at about a constant 80% and speeds will go no higher than 15MB/s....Thanks for the constant help by the way, I really appreciate it :-)
Earwig
Well it's still disk overload constantly now. I didn't notice before but when download is taking place and disk overload is constant, Upload speed stops dead. maybe around 5KB/s :-(I have just tested Deluge 1.3.1 and I got 55MB/s download constantly on an 11.2GB torrent until completed. I was also seeding at around 23MB/s during that time. So it really is an issue in uTorrent as my system is perfectly capable of the speeds and also the writing of the files to disk....I have always used uTorrent though and want to carry on doing so. I will keep trying things suggested in the hopethat I can find a fix to this issue :-)
