suzerain
Hi there.Just upgraded uTorrent to 1.5.13 and now it's stripping file extensions on download. E.G. "video_file.something.avi" is converted to "video_vile.something", which means playback programs don't work until you manually re-add the extension. Is this the result of a bug, or some setting I'm not aware of? suzerain
Good to know. FYI: I'm on Lion, however.
AnnSnark
Ok, thanks, are the steps to reproduce the same?
suzerain
I can play around with different settings and see if I can figure out what's unique but yes, my settings match the one described in the other thread: I have uTorrent set to download files in directory X, and then move completed files to directory Y. I would guess the most likely culprit is some bug when the file is moved.I can remove the post-download move and see if that changes things when I'm on a more stable connection. suzerain
Aha. I can reproduce the problem. It now doesn't happen all the time. It only happens when I use the "Advanced->Set Download Location..." contextual menu item.If I do that, then uTorrent will strip off the extension. The extension is stripped off immediately, as in while it is in the download directory. This is happening with torrents that consist of one file.If the download goes on its own based on the settings from Preferences, it seems to be OK. So there must be a bug with the "Set Download Location..." function.
