oou420
Recently, the torrents I download have been stopping on a regularly basis with the message "torrent error: the request could not be completed because of an I/O device error". They work for a bit when restarted, but I can't be doing this while I'm away or asleep is there a solution to this?
DreadWingKnight
Fix whatever's causing your storage drive to conk out like that.
oou420
it's not the storage drive, music plays off the drive continuously without a problem and utorrent itself is running off of it without ever shutting down. itunes is installed onto it as well and has never had any problems. DreadWingKnight
Well, the error is more of a windows error than a uTorrent error, which means SOMETHING'S misbehaving with the drive. Is it a network attached storage, internal or USB drive? oou420
It's an internal hard drive, nothing on it but downloads and a few programs. Previous torrents downloaded onto it fine, the problem only started a couple days ago
DreadWingKnight
Then what changed a couple days ago?Have you checked the drive for damage?
oou420
Nothing new happened, except regular automatic updates being installed. The disc looks fine, it looks like more of a software problem since it happens a lot less frequently when the torrents are force started. It's also been more tolerable since uninstalling version 3.0 and installing 3.1, but still an issue
DreadWingKnight
The disc looks fineAccording to what?
oou420
I just took a look at it, there is no visible physical damage and it is not overheated. The folders in it are accessible, although starting to lag after restarting the computer. There's a torrent downloading onto a different drive it should help to find the problem. The old torrents cannot even complete checking at this point
DreadWingKnight
So you didn't even attempt any disk checking software utilities then?
oou420
Not yet, right now I'm salvaging downloads off the disc in case it ends up crashing. It's probably just slowly self-destructing, like all hard drives are designed to do, some of it's functions are getting slower and slower while others are still operational. It's getting replaced either way and the torrent going to the external drive is working fine (despite utorrent still running off the dieing drive), thanks for your help
