torrey986
I keep getting the message "Error: Former Volume Not Mounted" whenever my rss feed tries to add a new torrent. I also received this message when I tried to start downloading a new torrent on Saturday. I read in the forum that an old torrent is probably being directed to a drive that is no longer present. I think this is most likely the case since the number in completed/inactive torrents is incorrect. I didn't really understand the directions on how to clear up this issue. The old torrent files aren't there any longer, so I'm at a loss at what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
DreadWingKnight
So the drive you have in your preferences, as of saturday, is no longer connected to your computer or its drive letter changed?
mcaspi
Developers, why not use simple understandable English?
jbebad
mcaspi - what DreadWingKnight asked was in simple understandable English. People that use computers and the software (especially when its free) should have a basic understanding of computers. If not they should go back to school to gain enough background to understand basic questions. It is far beyond the scope of software development sites to teach computer basics. mcaspi
jbedad, I referred to the "Error: Former Volume Not Mounted" message and not to what DWK wrote. uT users have different computer knowledge levels and in my opinion, those messages need to be easily understood by all users. jbebad
So you were venting rather than offering help to the original question. In this case shouldn't you being directing your issue to the os developers rather than uTorrent developers? Of course you could have queryed him/her to provide you with that info, and then you could have gone to their site. Standard error messages by the os should provide an individual with enough information to point them in the right direction to solve the problem. In this case, the error message did just that. If a user does not understand it then perhaps they need additional training - and should get it. Also, this type of error has nothing to do with uTorrent. If the os was Windows, he could have gotten the same error message trying to open/read/write/save/delete a file on a device that is no longer mounted with any application on his/her computer. mcaspi
"Error: Former Volume Not Mounted" is displayed by uT and many users have problems understanding what this means. Since "Volume" and "Mounted" are not words that users usually use or understand, I don't see any reason to start "complicate" their life.
torrey986
Sorry, I wish I could stow a screen shot of the program. Maybe I can make a list of the events that lead me here. 1. I didn't want to lose all my RSS feeds, so I backed up the program files2. I had my computer's OS Windows Xp re installed3. I previous disc configuration contained a partitioned hard drive C and D4. Upon the new install a partition was not created only leaving a C:\5. I installed uTorrent, tried coping the RSS feed files back but it didn't work, so I retyped all my RSS feeds6. I thought everything was all good but now new torrents are giving me the above mentioned error message. Would it be easier to just create a partition and name it D:\ like my previous set up rather than trying to figure out uTorrent? Thanks
