a_catalin
Hi.Is there any way to start 2 completely separated instances of uTorrent on a computer in the same user account..?I've seen that others asked this but they didn't get a good answer or they were asked why do they need it.Well, I do have a reason: I use both private and public trackers; but on private trackers is required to completely disable DHT, Local peer discovery, Peer exchange. But if you disable them the public torrents will have a low download/upload speed. If I don't disable them, the private trackers will ban me.Until now I solved this problem by using uTorrent for private trackers and BitComet for public trackers. But I don't wanna use that BitComet crap anymore, I like uTorrent instead. What I tried: I've had some success virtualizing programs that have some support for separate instances (like Yahoo Messenger) and increased their "separation". For example now each instance remembers its own account (before that it remembered only the last used account).I tried virtualizing uTorrent too (using that exe parameter for the second instance) but still only one instance is loaded in memory. Is there any solution to my problem...?Thank you in advance.Best regards, Catalin Amariei
DreadWingKnight
If I don't disable them, the private trackers will ban me.Then those specific trackers are run by complete idiots.Putting the private flag in torrents already disables uTorrent's use of those features on the specific torrents. Any claims to the contrary must be backed up with proof by them. You can run each instance in self-contained mode (covered in the faq) and use the /recover switch, but it doesn't solve the root of the problem (the admins of the private sites that want the features disabled don't learn that they're being stupid and don't change). DreadWingKnight
Then it's time to just leave them and not go back.
a_catalin
I want to but there are torrents which I can't find on public torrents + any private trackers where I can get an invite have this rule + I will have to start from 0 on a new one (on current ones I have a good ratio). Here is how they justify having this rule (for the record I don't agree with them):What is DHT/PEX/LPD and why must I turn it off DHT must be disabled in your client, DHT can cause your stats to be recorded incorrectly and could be seen as cheating also disable PEX (peer exchange) Anyone using this will be banned for cheating the system. Check your snatchlist regularly to ensure stats are being recorded correctly, allow 30mins for the tracker to update your stats.
DreadWingKnight
Which is all lies actually.DHT can't cause what they claim it does, and it disables with the private flag in the torrent on a per-torrent basis.Peer Exchange, same thing.Local peer discovery would only have any impersonation of relevance in a university residential network, and again is disabled per-torrent with the private flag. a_catalin
I agree but as you can see if I decide to not use those trackers or if I try to talk to the staff it will be worst...
Firon
Trackers have no way of knowing if you have any of those features on. They're just idiots. You can safely ignore them.
a_catalin
Directly no but indirectly is maybe possible.I admit, the risk is low but still I can't afford to lose the accounts and to harm also the friends who sent me the invites (they will be banned also).
