How can I pass magnet links to a headless system running utorrent?

We used to use w3m to pass multiple .torrent files to rtorrent running on a headless machine. Neither machine uses X. This worked fine with torrent files, but not magnet links.

(1) Can utorrent run multiple magnet links simultaneously?

(2) How can I pass the magnet link from my machine (slackware, no X) to the second machine (also slackware, no X)?

Firefox -->vuze works fine on other machines, but as mentioned before, the machines in question do not have any GUI available.

The problem we faced lies in the instability of older versions of rtorrent and libtorrent.

rtorrent 0.8.9 and libtorrent 0.12.9 are stable and will correctly load magnet links if the

magnet link is wrapped as given by the script provided by rtorrent.

As far as I know rtorrent is the only client that can handle magnet links dropped in to the

client as easily as torrents.
