SynisterSilence
Recently every time I download a torrent, it's empty. It'll download it, but it doesn't have a "size" and whatnot. Here's what it looks like: http://i.imgur.com/nq8p0.png
DreadWingKnight
Stop using magnet links then.
Firon
Magnet links do not show any information because we don't actually have the torrent yet. There's no workaround for this.
mvgaray90
why is this a problem now. it worked fine with magnet links befor v3.1 . im not complaining or anything because ill just start doenloading it and then pick the files i want after it has begun, but why is this happening with 3.1 and wasnt a problem before the update. Firon
It has nothing to do with 3.1. It has always functioned this way.
magao
Magnet links do not show any information because we don't actually have the torrent yet. There's no workaround for this.Yes there is a workaround (the question of whether it's an acceptable one is another issue, though I see no reason why it shouldn't be OK). When a torrent is added by magnet link (by any mechanism), connect to DHT and download the torrent metadata, even if the torrent is stopped. This would mean that after a short period of time, the entry in the list would be updated.Note that I am not suggesting waiting until the metadata is available before displaying the "add" box or adding the entry to the list. I'm suggesting adding the entry to the list without the metadata (as currently happens), then updating it (as currently happens once you've started the torrent and the metadata has been retrieved from DHT).Obviously this would need to be a new option since many people might not want any traffic for a torrent that is stopped. OZZIE
I have the same issue, I tried as you say just to wait but the information is never filled out.. it's just blank like the torrent doesn't contain anything to download.I use firefox and it asked me what program to use when I first clicked the magnet link, I manually found utorrent.exe and clicked OK. Could this be the issue?I've waited for like an hour and I know that the torrent has both a ton of seeders and leachers. I can download any normal torrent that doesn't have a magnetic link...Please anyone that has a better answer?EDIT: 24 hours later with utorrent on it started downloading like any normal torrent... Should it really take this long??
magao
You misunderstood. I didn't say that there was a way users could work around it (currently the only way is to start the torrent). I was saying there was a way the developers could work around the fact that when you add a torrent by magnet link you don't actually have the torrent file.
