dyep
utorrent 3.x and up has started getting banned on a lot trackers and therefore can't use the client.Due to a serious bug in uTorrent 3.1 that causes it not to ban peers sending bad data, we have been forced to remove it from our client whitelist. We're sorry for the inconvenience. That's what the site I use utorrent on had posted in their forum, any way you guys can quickly fix this bug so it can be used on the sites again because if not then a majority of people will be forced to go back to 2.2.1 and not update to the newer versions of utorrent if it can't be used with a majority of sites. aharmatey
I can confirm this. A lot of users are having to switch to older versions because the sites have taken 3.1 off their whitelist. Dyep didn't actually get the bug, he's just reporting that 3.1 can't be used by trackers because of it. uTorrent 3.1 has a serious bug that causes it not to ban peers sending bad data
dyep
Correct aharmatey, I did not get this bug myself. It has been brought to my attention by the tracker admins and they have started blacklisting anything over version 3.0 of utorrent because of the bug. I can't reproduce it myself, just thought you guys should be aware of this and hopefully see what the problem is so it can be fixed and we can start using the newer versions of utorrent again on the trackers. bottlerockets
Steps to reproduce please.Easy. 1) Find or create a seeding torrent where the seeder has modified the files and will send bad data2) Download the torrent with utorrent 3.1 build 26671 or 3.1.1 build 266743) Watch as the hashfails pile up without ever banning the peer.I just tested this using a torrent of a .txt file with a replaced character. These are the results:http://i.imgur.com/NPiIQ.jpgThis was with the latest stable build, 26671. I stopped it once it reached 488 hashfails. I then installed the latest beta build (26674) and let it run for 150+ more hashfails. The sole seeder was never banned.Edit: I installed build 26616 and it banned the seeder after one hashfail. This is a problem new to the current builds, and it's severe.

We reverted a bunch of diskio changes that caused the problems on 3.1, so in theory, 3.1.1 should behave like 3.0.If it doesn't, then this is a separate bug that needs to be fixed. You can get 3.1.1 here: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=112198

Firon
Oh, crud. I didn't read very well. I only saw you say "3.1", not 3.1.1.
Firon
We think we've fixed this. We'll refresh 3.1.1 with the fix today and push out a new 3.1 once it's confirmed to be fixed.
