triplewgf
Hello everyone,I'm using the latest version of uTorrent for Mac. Recently (the past few days), I noticed that the download speed is very, very low -- <1 kb/s at times. This happens regardless of how many seeders/leechers there are, however, some torrents download normally. (by this I mean, there are some torrents with 200+ seeds that are quite slow, but there are torrents with the same number of seeds that download normally) The upload speed is fine, but the download speed is at a crawl. A lot of people in my area are also experiencing the same phenomenon. I wanted to know if there are any settings I can fiddle around with to try and solve this problem, or if it's an ISP thing? Thanks!
kerriw
Have you tried the Setup Guide? It would be under Options. That might help. Also, there are ways of "tweaking" your speed. Do an internet search for utorrent tweaks on step by step instructions on how to increase your speed. Remember to delete any trackers that may be slowing your downloads. If there are trackers showing as "deleted from pool", "unregistered torrent", connection closed by peer, etc..... delete them.
triplewgf
Unfortunately I'm on a Mac, so I don't think the setup guide is available. I'll look into the deleting trackers -- if anyone else has any other info though, that'd be great
triplewgf
I noticed that a lot of the trackers when downloading say "Connection Refused." I wonder if it's something with my ISP, or with the trackers/torrents, or with uTorrent.I tried setting the Outgoing Encryption to "Force" and it improved somewhat -- still not downloading at the speeds it used to though. There are other threads on the topic so it seems to be a common problem recently. Hope someone has the answers! Thanks again guys.
