noeffect_ Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 I know it is a common error, but I don't know to solve this. When I had a boardband internet which was 256KB, utorrent had worked perfectly. Now I have a boardband internet which is 1MB and I'm having problems. The icon in the lower-right position must be green, and mine is just orange, all the time.I don't know the number of the port 'cause it changed when I changed my boardband internet. And surely, I don't even know to know the number. It is the only problem. It is written in uTorrent to go to portforward.com but I can't understand what they are tryin' to explain, 'cause I don't know the language about the whole world of internet at all.I need help, a walkthrough to solve this problem.Do you know something can help me? You can do it either EDIT: It appears a "result" which says: Port is not open (you are still able to download).
pmshah Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 Change the setting in uTorrent to use a random port in place of a fixed one. If you are the only one connected to internet your problem should be solved.Port forwarding is absolutely required if more than one person is using the internet gateway AND using a torrent client. It requires you to go into the settings of your modem. It can be quite challenging if you have no prior experience.

"Port is not open (you are still able to download)". How can I go to see the settings on my modem? I just really want to know either what port is open or how can I open one... that's my doubt. =)Thanks in advance! Thank you for replying
FredSam43 Posted January 28, 2012 Report Posted January 28, 2012 If you are lucky your modem supports UPnP port mapping and/or NAT-PMP port mapping. If so you only have to click the relevant box(s) in the Connection page of the Preferences (near where you selected "Randomize port each start".) It works for me: I've never had to touch my firewall or router or the router's firewall to use uTorrent.

And I don't think so that changing my port every time I start uTorrent will solve it.I disabled and enabled again the UPnP and NAT-PMP port mapping and did again the network test, the same error in the last line of the debut post hit again, well I also don't think so that it solved... but the icon turned green now. I'm uploading... o_o I downloaded a movie torrent file, and it worked. lol. I still don't think that whatever I did made it work. Closed and Opened the uTorrent program an it is still green. I tried to download again after re-opened the program and it is working as a charm.Thank you! haha Well, if I got a new doubt, I'll come back here. Very thanks
noeffect_ Posted January 28, 2012 Author Report Posted January 28, 2012 I knew that uTorrent was kidding me...
