saner Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 HelloI'm using uTorrent 3.1 (previously uTorrent 1.8.5) on my Desktop. Running on Windows Vista 32 bit. Utorrent has been working very well until recently, about one month ago. Virtually every torrent I use do not have any seeds and peers, or have simply 2 or 3 peers, and the download is in most cases 0.0 kb/sec. I have been always using uTOrrent 1.8.5 until very recently when I upgraded to uTorrent 3.1 because of this problem, but upgrading does not solve it.The torrents have only UDP trackers, as well as DHT, peer exchange and Local peer discovery. 1) UDP trackers connections are always timed out. But I figure this is not the problem because uTorrent 1.8.5 previously did not support UDP trackers, and I still had thousands of seeds, so they most likely came from DHT / peer exchange / local peer discovery.2) My ports are open. I am connected to a router by a cable. I did port forwarding, and I have several nodes on DHT, and DHT is working. The status of uTorrent is green : "Your network connection is working as it should". "Port is open. Your network is properly configured." However, there are very very few seeds (ranging from 0 to 5) each time. Peer exchange and local peer discovery have no seeds. 3) I am very sure it is not that the torrents have no seeds. This is because, after I hooked up my roommate's laptop, which has the same settings as my desktop in terms of uTorrent (only difference is that laptop is using Windows 7), and almost immediately I get thousands of seeds and peers in DHT and peer exchange. And the thing is, after my roommate's laptop detects all these seeds, my desktop will also start to have seeds in local peer discovery etc. But otherwise, the uTorrent in my desktop cannot detect any seeds and peers.4) I have tried all the settings in the post by DreadWingKnight, and others. I have messed with Protocol Encryption, the Advanced tab, deleted dht.dat, reset peer, changed ports and redid port forwarding, and still have this problem.5) http trackers work for me. I can download pretty decently if I am connected to http trackers. Peer exchange will have a lot of seeds, presumably trickled from the http trackers. However, if the torrent has no http trackers, and only consists of udp and DHT etc. I cannot download at all.Hence may I seek advice regarding:1) How to connect to any UDP trackers? Everytime I try they are timed out. And they are reliable trackers like openbittorrent.com, istole.it, publicbt.com. I can't connect to any of them. UDP tracker support is enabled under the Options tab.2) How to get seeds for DHT and Peer exchange / Local peer discovery? I've tried all the methods described online, and have spent several hours trying to troubleshoot, but there are still no seeds. Please advise. Thanks in advance.
