asdfhelp Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 Hello, I am new to utorrent. Ive done much research and read countless threads from different websites yet I am still unable to correctly setup utorrent. -I have downloaded utorrent 3.1.2 directly from utorrent.com. (I am on windows 7.) -I followed the step by step intructions and made sure to check utorrent as a firewall exception.-Upon installing I ran the tests for my upload/download speeds and clicked save. The port is also at a high number.. I read in several places it should be above 50000.-When attempting to download a torrent from either piratebay or isohunt (with plenty more seeders than leechers) the download appears on utorrent as "downloading 0.0%" health- empty, down speed- empty, up speed- empty, ETA- infinity.-Reading related posts I found many of the responses requesting to see the tracker information. (if needed I'll post a picture but basically it reads as follows for the selected torrent file:DHT - waiting for announce...Local peer Discovery - workingPeer exchange - workingthan the 4 urls which I assume contain all the seeders and leachers show : "connection closed by peer" and "offline (timed out)Im pretty sure this is just a setup issue as mostly every other post ive found on the internet includes users who have previously had utorrent working.. and this is not an issue with just 1 specific torrent file ive tried over 30 with the same results... even some music file utorrent offers to download upon installing... hopefully i provided enough info and I can get this solved. thanks
DreadWingKnight Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 What internet security software do you have installed?
asdfhelp Posted February 19, 2012 Author Report Posted February 19, 2012 Sophos Protection. Could it be that?
DreadWingKnight Posted February 19, 2012 Report Posted February 19, 2012 It likely is, given that it's showing errors consistent with internet security software not set to allow uT properly.
asdfhelp Posted February 19, 2012 Author Report Posted February 19, 2012 Adding utorrent to the "exclusions" in Sophos properties has made no change.
xoptics Posted February 20, 2012 Report Posted February 20, 2012 Check the Trackers tab and check the status for the https tracker. A certain torrent site has blacklisted (or at least not whitelisted) the latest version of uTorrent. Thus nothing I do will allow the torrents to download besides downgrading my uTorrent. If you see nothing in that space suggesting your client is blacklisted, I still would recommend downgrading to an earlier version and see if that works.Your uTorrent data for backup is located in (for windows 7)C:\Users\*your account*\AppData\Roaming\uTorrent\You can copy that folder to another space on your harddrive as a backup if you are hesitant to downgrade your uTorrent (though it should keep everything).Hope that helps, I just figured this out and was having the same issue as you, after upgrade, none of my torrents were seeding or leeching.peace
