FumbleFingers
I just upgraded to utorrent 3.1.2, and I must admit it looks pretty slick. But I'm confused by the new "rating" and "comment" values. Am I supposed to be rating/commenting on the content of a download, or how quickly it arrived? And when I see ratings/comments from other people, where are these coming from? Is there some kind of centralised server, or am I just seeing values from whichever users happen to be in communication with my copy of utorrent at the time? Firon
You're basically supposed to be rating the content. It's basically stored in the DHT, a decentralized overlay network for torrents. Some if it comes from peers you connect to as well.
FumbleFingers
Thanks for that info. I suppose the concept will come under attack soon enough, with false reports praising virus-ridden software, or denigrating good things because someone thinks they're being deprived of revenue if you aren't buying those good things from them. But I shall play my part, like a good soldier.
