orion26
Hey guys, for the past couple of days since I installed the latest uTorrent patch (build 26773) it has been unbearably slow with a top download speed of 5kb p/s.Before installing the latest build it was 10x faster at least. Now in saying that, I haven't tampered with the speed settings, up or down but I have noticed this: On my desktop tower I have the build prior to the one mentioned installed and that build's speed is perfect. Its because when I check the set-up guide on my notebook, i notice that the server closest to me is missing, which is: Sydney Australia... on my tower's build it's there, which explains my fast download speeds...I know its a foregone conclusion at this point but is there any way that I can roll back to build 26753; my tower's build build in all honesty it is ridiculous! orion26
Thanks for the reply but I doubt that'll work for me, my firewall is perfect as is my router and modem... I should know; I set them up myself when I first moved in and this problem is very recent as in the last couple of days recent... As for the set up guide, initially i never had to even touch it. When i installed uTorrent on my Desktop tower it automatically selected my server as Sydney Australia, the same with uTorrent on my notebook.Ever since i upgraded to the latest build that's when I started having problems...In other words build 26753 is fine works perfectly, regarding download speeds in which I never had to set, the problem therefore is the latest build. S1Drano
As for the set up guide, initially i never had to even touch it. When i installed uTorrent on my Desktop tower it automatically selected my server as Sydney Australia, the same with uTorrent on my notebook. We're talking about torrents here, there are NO server. You download a torrent file, which contains a list of trackers.uTorrent tries to connect to those trackers and retrieve a list of all peers that are currently connected to the tracker.uTorrent then asks for pieces from peers and downloads those pieces from them (by the way, you're a peer as well and will be uploading pieces to others)Since transfer is done between clients, there is NO server in between. That's the whole point about torrents. If previous - perfectly well working - builds of uTorrent connected to a server in Australia, while the newer - not working - build doesn't, then that's just coincidence. orion26
Dude, with all due respect, please don't belittle my intelligence I know exactly what a torrent is and how it works, i DO work in I.T.As far as the server goes I was referring to the server closest to me... i.e Sydney, Australia... Telstra Bandwidth Server.... you go into the uTorrent Setup Guide and its the first thing you see within the drop box to the right of the word "Bandwidth" .... along with USA, CA, Los Angeles .. Greece, Athens .. Paris, France... so on and so forth. With every entity that enables downloads, whether they be direct such as STEAM, Origin, Capsule or from torrents, there is always a Bandwidth region that defaults to the closest possible to you based on who you are set up with... without you even realising it.Now on the build I have running on my Desktop Tower, I'm able to select Sydney, Australia and that's build 26753. Downloads speeds are perfect on my tower. On my notebook i'm running the latest build; build 26773 and don't have the option of selecting Sydney, Australia because it's not on the list. And for the record I don't believe in the paradigm of "coincidence", there is reason driving everything in life... but even if it was a coincidence it remains futile. Why would they remove any one server from the list in a newer build? I just seems stupid and pointless!

THE SPEED TEST SERVER HAS NO BEARING WHATSOEVER ON YOUR SPEEDS! PERIOD!Now provide the information the troubleshooting guide requests.
orion26
Oh ok son, look, without being to rude, don't go down this road showing me disrespect when I was being nothing if not respectful to you and everyone else on the forums understand.....If what you say is true, then I'm not sure what the problem is... download speeds were fine before and they aren't now that I've installed the latest build. That is the only constant that I can see thus far.As for my firewall, modem and router they are fine and configured perfectly, I personally configured them myself last week and there hasn't been need to touch them since. But if that be the case where my modem and router are concerned, if they aren't configured properly then it stands to reason that both versions of uTorrent on my desktop tower and on my notebook would be suffering the same fate, but its not both of them its just my notebook and as for the server if it is so inconsequential to my download speeds then why remove it in the first place. orion26
How would one go about "providing information"? As far as I'm concerned my posts in this thread provides you with said information unless there's some formality I'm missing! In which case I apologize! orion26
I've done all of this, read the FAQ, tested all common procedures... nothing works my firewall is working perfect with uTorrent as the exception as always, my router and modem are configured, anti virus isn't the problem because I have the same anti virus on both my desktop and my notebook ... I can't possibly reply to that thread because it's closed so I'm not sure how to get the info through!
