Built-in Tracker - Internal IP

Hi all,

Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong place I couldn't see a suitable place to put it so I thought I'd just stick it in the general pile.

I have tried searching to resolve my problem but I couldn't find anything, maybe I'm searching for the wrong thing?

I'm trying to send files to another company, but I don't want to use a public tracker as I don't want other people downloading the files, and I don't want to use a open tracker as I don't know what information is being sent to the tracker. I had a look into creating my own tracker but I couldn't get my head around the scripts.

So I looked around the internet and came across that you can use Utorrent's built in tracker using the

http://my-ip:my-port/announce

method. I have followed the methods posted but I seem to be having some issue's with it. My guess is that because i'm working through a switch (at work) we all have our own internal IP's. When putting in my IP do I put the internal IP or the external one? Or both? I have forwarded the port through the firewall that are switch is connected to (the only between the switch and the outside internet connection) and when I run the test through the Utorrent setup guide then it says the port is open and good to go.

Any suggestions? I'd be more then happy to put in any more info if its needed and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
