Dolloze
Hello!I just set up utorrent 3.1.3 on my windows home server 2003 and i seem to be having a problem with downloading anything. Every time utorrent tries to write something to my download folder i get "error: access denied". i am able to seed complete downloads, but not download new ones. Does anyone have any ideas of what might help me?Loving and caring salutations <
DreadWingKnight
Does the user account that's running uTorrent on the server have full control access in the security properties of the folder?
Dolloze
It has administrator privileges. I also tried to set that specific user with full control, but i still get access denied.
DreadWingKnight
And the matching %appdata%\utorrent folder as well?

DreadWingKnight
Have you tried specifying a different default directory for the destination of downloads?Do you have a "save .torrent files in" location selected?
Dolloze
I set up a directory for finished and uinfinished downloads and torrents from the start, and i tried changing them. But I just noticed that the read only box is checked! However when i try to uncheck it and click apply changes, it re-checks itself when i go in to the folder properties again, so i still have the same problem :S
DreadWingKnight
That's an old display bug from the Windows 95 days because of how those properties were handled on folders at the time.Could you show the settings from preferences - directories in a screenshot please? DreadWingKnight
Using network shares like that is probably the problem. You REALLY should be using local directories, ESPEICALLY for the store .torrent files in and move .torrent files to entries.
Dolloze
Yes that was my initial thought as well, but changing the directory from VTSERVER to the E: disk doesn't solve the problem, i still get access denied. Also one of the walkthroughs said that i should write it down like that, but right now i won't : PThis is how it looks now

blackblt1
Have you checked your drive/folders properties? Check to make sure that its not set up as a read only. I was getting the same message with my external hard drive, till I noticed that it was set as "Read Only" and unselected that option.
Dolloze
Yes the read only box i checked. However as I mentioned earlier, when I uncheck it, it re-checks itself after I have applied the changes and closed the properties window.
