KitchenKonvoy Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 I've been trying to use BT Guard with utorrent but I just get this error, Proxy Connect Error; no connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.I used the install from BT's website to install utorrent and BT guard. Everything is set up right and my account is active but I can't get any torrents going in utorrent. I'm connected to their VPN as I post this. Any help would be appreciated, I'm not sure where to go from here.
somefakename Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 I registered today, just so I can say "me too!" I'm running uTorrent 3.2 beta with BTGuard. For nearly the last year this has been running trouble free, but in the last day or two this apparently has failed.I'm getting nothing coming in. No seeds.Trackers provide either the same error message that you show, or "Proxy Connect Error: -12"As many state, BTGuard support is slow, so we may just have to wait it out.
somefakename Posted March 24, 2012 Report Posted March 24, 2012 Quick update...Like you, I thought the problem might be BTGuard.I had also uninstalled BTGuard, and completely redid that, with no success, before my previous post. So, after reading over a lot of the forum posts and seeing nohting of value, I chose to uninstall uTorrent, and reinstall.Instead of Beta, I loaded stable (3.1.3 build 26837)Surprise! Downloads have restarted.I suggest that you may wish to try this as well.
jmann Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 Are you sure it's fixed? I am still getting a Proxy connect error even after a reinstall of the newest version of utorrent. Perhaps you didn't set up the BTGuard proxy and that's why it's now working.
somefakename Posted March 26, 2012 Report Posted March 26, 2012 That's some good thinking there... But my BTGuard proxy setup was good. I checked it several times. What worked for me was that I unloaded EVERYTHING that had to do with uTorrent, ran CCleaner to get rid of anything in windows registry, and reloaded stable (not beta). Now, if that did something to open up port 1025, well, maybe... But it's working, so that's what I know. Now, when I check various torrents, I still see some reporting connection errors... But I have been able to make successful downloads, and have a few running right now.I hope you get to the root of your issue.
