The first thing any support person will ask you is: "Have you tried a restart?" Your symptoms are almost always caused by some program 'holding' part of the file information even after it's shut down.

A number of sites include a text file of a tracker. For example, "Download from xxxxx.com". I do not like to have that file in the target folder for the main file, so I put it in a junk folder. When I download another torrent and it has the same tracker file, I point to the file in the junk folder. Once I have the file I can do a force re-check on future torrent files that include the same text file. From time to time the files may be different, but generally the are always the same. In the case where it is a new tracker file and I have multiple downloading torrents that iuse the same text file, I will get the same error. All I do is restart the torrent and it will work itself out.

Another time I got the same error was when I was watching a video or listening to an mp3 while the torrent was still being download. Although the specific file was 100% complete, its neighbor was not. In that case - I exited the file and restarted the torrent.

Interesting. Makes you wonder what the real function of that text file is. Hmm....

PrettyCharlie: I thought that was obvious. The trackers want it known where the torrent was initially uploaded and as an advertisement to get seeders/leechers join their site.

Ah.. then I'm more lost than I thought. (laughs) So which one is the tracker file? jbebad refers to multiple files having the same tracker file. Is that teeny text file all it is? And if so, how do you point to the one file, please?
