internet speed problems

could someone explain this to me?

i pay for 9MB/s download speed and speedtest.net shows me i have 9MB/s download speed but when i download a torrent my max download speed is 1MB/s where my friend gets 3MB/s... how come?

uTorrent displays in *byte/sec where speedtest.net gives *bit/sec

so i am getting the right speed? and how fast will my download speed get when i upgrade it to 15MB/s?

You are getting the right speed and uT max will show around 15/8.

so actually speedtest.net and your internet provider are telling you the wrong speed?

because everything you download and stuff is in MB...

They're saying the same values with different units.

yea but the internet providers are kinda cheating because mbit is a higher number so it looks more :P but thanks for the previous answer

They're not cheating at all, Its just your ignorance of a different scale of measurement.
