URGENT need help please :( TRIED EVERYTHING, PORTS PROBLEM, CRASHING

Hi everyone :(

Basically I thought I was quite savvy with torrenting, and with the previous problems I have encountered with uTorrent, but not until now. Usually, all I had to do was either change the wireless channel of my internet connection, re-install utorrent or uninstall utorrent and install bittorent instead. However, this seems to be a more complicated issue. Since two days ago my uTorrent suddenly went down to download speeds of around 2kb, when I usually reach speeds of about 4000kb. I went into the setup guide to see what was going on, ran through the test, Bandwith test works fine, it says that my speeds are as they should be, but when it goes through the next stage (the network test), there is a yellow arrow with an asterisk saying that the port is closed. I have gone to portfoward.com countless times within these two days, reading the guide for my specific router, going through the steps ect. but it just doesn't work. I have forwarded the ports more times than I can count on two hands. What happens is that I forward the port, close the window, open utorrent, but I still see the speeds at 2kb (no surprise), so I go to the setup guide again, as I have done so many times now, but what happens now is the port somehow magically changes OR the port stays the same, I run the test and half way through the test, utorrent just closes. It just poofs. THEN when I re-open it, go into setup guide, the port has either changed or when I run the test again with the port I have opened, it says the port has closed. Also, to double check, I have opened a different port, and instead of going into utorrent to check if the port is open, I used the port foward port checker, but nope, it says that the port is closed. As a last resort, today I closed everything on my computer which has anything to do with the internet, shut it down, unplugged the router and modem, turned everything back on, nothing. The exact same thing.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Please help me you guys, I would be so happy, :)

Thanks,

Hamza.

P.S. I have also turned off Window Firewall, I have had it turned off for about a year and a half because it is the most bloody annoying thing in the world as it just blocks all the games on my computer haha :) So it's not the firewall that's the problem

i would recommend you to uninstall one of the download clients, being in 2 boats may be causing conflicts.

try these steps.

-scan for malwares after updating ur antivirus thing.

-check ur task manager if something else is eating up ur download speed.

-change ur wireless password,or make it visible to YOU alone if not already done for someone else might be using it without ur knowledge?

-try updating urtorrent or downgrading it by a version and see the status of ur problem

-are you using a switch parallel to the wireless connection you use ?

.................................................................................................................

i cant be sure if any of this helps, but is your hardisk alright ?if it has too many bad sectors it may cause conflicts.

and one last thing you should check, is there any difference in the download speeds if you use a wire from the router instead of running internet on a wireless connection..or it could be some random booger which will go away with time. :P

hope this helps.

I think it was just a random booger haah :)

Although my port still says not open, my speeds have returned to about normal (or at least seem to be

getting a lot better) and I was also running on a wired connection anyway, I already did switch between

wired and wireless though just in case it was the opposite way round earlier, but it's okay now, thanks for

the help you guys, but Anustup, I suggest trying to use 1x's methods or wait a while, I hope you'll be able to find yourself out of this conundrum, it sure was a pain for me too :P I feel sypmathy for you man....
