seeker1099
I am trying to prevent my carrier and who ever from getting my IP address when I download torrents. My question is, will a proxy work or am I better off with a seed box?
D0wnl0ad1ng
Seedbox? How would that work? I looked at the www and it looks like a server but I am not sure how it would be different from downloading to your home? Is the seedbox not in your home to? seeker1099
A seed box is actually an account on a server that allows you to download torrents to their storage. You then ftp the torrents to your system. The IPs n these servers do allow your ip to be traced.
ktetch
They would just go after the seedbox as they would your home connection. The big (FUN) difference is that since you've rented the seedbox, and it's a colo box, it's actually EASIER to get a judge to sign off on examining it (since it's not a personal computer, and thus there's less expectation of privacy)Second, remember I mentioned renting? That's right, you've got an account with them, a direct link to you personally, on a server rented with an aim, and set up to that end.Seed boxes make it REAL easy for antip2p lawyers, and their investigators, to collect evidence. seeker1099
Alex04, what you are describing is basically a proxy server. The one you have chosen is a different site but the same as BTGaurd.
