bushwhacker2k Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 Wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this, sorry if it wasn't.I've been torrenting for some time now and I realized I don't actually know when the right time to stop seeding something is...How can I tell if other people are seeding a bittorrent that I'm seeding, and how many?
DreadWingKnight Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 If you're seeding, it's difficult to tell since you don't maintain connections to them.If you make your own torrents, getting the availability among peers you're seeding to above 1.0 is USUALLY enough. If you're downloading torrents from others, getting a ratio between 1 and 2 is enough.
bushwhacker2k Posted April 26, 2012 Author Report Posted April 26, 2012 Okay, could you break that down for me a little bit?Is a peer someone who is 'leeching' (or do I have the wrong term here? meaning downloading) the torrent?Where, exactly, on the uTorrent layout does it show the information related to seeding? Thanks for the absurdly fast reply ---Does the information under the 'Up Speed' indicate the speed at which I, personally, am uploading the data for the specific torrent?
DreadWingKnight Posted April 26, 2012 Report Posted April 26, 2012 Where, exactly, on the uTorrent layout does it show the information related to seeding? On the info tab with the torrent selected (when you don't have the columns enabled)Does the information under the 'Up Speed' indicate the speed at which I, personally, am uploading the data for the specific torrent?Yes
bushwhacker2k Posted April 27, 2012 Author Report Posted April 27, 2012 What does it mean when the 'Up Speed's are notably different? Why would I upload certain files faster than other ones?Is a 'peer' the term for a person who is downloading the torrent?
