µTorrent 3.3 beta

Recommended Posts

It seems like this alpha is even pre-3.2 Beta judging by it's id number (27184) when 3.2 Beta's number is (27198).

^ did anyone else notice that?

Yes' date=' so? They will update the alpha when they will get to it...[/quote']

Again a clear illustration of the terrible status of the project. The evolution of versions look like some headless duck running around the yard, with random deliveries and fixes-creating-more-bugs. I had lots of hope when I saw that 3.3 was a major redesign of DiskIO, but I feel very discouraged to be a Alpha tester/victim. Hold on to it, guys. How long has this "affair" been going on? 1 year soon !

µTorrent 3.3 alpha (27184):

I might be wrong, but I understand that the 3.3 has a build numbering chain that is completely separate from 3.2 and 3.1.

Having a lower build number than the concurrent 3.2 beta does not mean that the 3.3 alpha is behind in development terms.

I think the builds and improvements have been coming out at a commendable rate.

It's very curious : under seven x86 SP1, 3.3 runs twelve hours without crashing, only M$ reboots prevents it from running continuously, but under seven x64 SP1, it crashes before splash window ; does this behaviour remain related with folder "program file(x86)" used by micro-torrent, instead of "program file" under seven x86 SP1 ? I doubt wether it sends bug report or not...

by the way, 3.3 seems less cpu consuming than 3.2 ; on my PIV 3.0 GHz, it's precious !

Dl rate drops down far much with 3.3 compare to 3.2 ; downloading from a Xirvik Rutorrent with 11MegaByte/Sec sustain rate!!! The problem is not the sources!!! Disabling bt_pulse reduces a little bit pumping phenomenom ; maybe under seven x64 would be unnoticeable, but it doesn't run for the moment.

build number reflects the date of release, nothing as modernity, relating to 3.0, 3.1, or 3.2 for instance !

The latest µTorrent 3.3 alpha (27184) crashes intermittently, sent reports.

I also get a lot of "Can't open .torrent file: ./complete\filename.torrent"

My settings:

Store .torrents in: .\torrents

Move .torrents for finished jobs: .\complete

Works perfectly fine with µTorrent 3.2 Beta (build 27215).

Thanks.

Old forgotten situation with hash failed check has just come back on 27184. As a result it's the third hour I can not complete downloading file.

µT 3.3 (27184) hangs on launch with given “isp.peer_policy_url” using this content:

<btpolicy version="1.0">  <revision>2</revision>  <!-- Rostelecom optimal announce ip-ranges -->
  <iprange start="95.72.0.0" end="95.72.255.255" weight="10"/></btpolicy>

Try this:

<btpolicy version="1.0"><revision>1</revision><!-- Private networks --><netmask mask="10.0.0.0/255.0.0.0" weight="10"/><netmask mask="172.16.0.0/255.240.0.0" weight="10"/><netmask mask="192.168.0.0/255.254.0.0" weight="10"/><!-- Rostelecom --><netmask mask="95.72.0.0/255.255.0.0" weight="10"/></btpolicy>

There should be a direct link.

Well, “http://127.0.0.1/announce.xml” isn’t a direct link already?

Also I did a little research, µT hangs with given ip url, it doesn’t hang with given “http://localhost/…” link, but also doesn’t get the xml from the server (as I can see by server’s log). Doesn’t hang with dropbox link, and fetches the xml from there though, and seems to be working. The issue with ip addresses should be fixed…

Edit: Never mind, it hanged right now, there is the issue with the whole policy system, I guess… :D

build number reflects the date of release' date=' nothing as modernity, relating to 3.0, 3.1, or 3.2 for instance ![/quote']

Build number increases monotonically across ALL branches of development so... it means nothing in terms of where it lies in relation to other versions.

build 27251

Once in a while I test the new 3.3 build; and this latest one seems to be be working without any major bugs now.

However the download/upload speeds are horrendous.

I don't know what's the deal is, but had to roll back to 3.2 to be able to download/upload again.

3.2 usually works on 2000/250

3.3 jumps randomly but howers around 200/50

KBytes/s (down/up)

27251:

1. Select multi-file torrent.

2. Choose any amount of files (but not all) to download (you may uncheck at least one file in the list).

3. Start the downloading process.

4. Interrupt the process (quit uTorrent, for example).

5. Start uTorrent. Downloading file check begins.

6. In the end of check you get an error - "The end of file reached" or "Invalid handle".
