utorrent getting unstable. High CPU and memory usage!

Recommended Posts

Whenever i try to open utorrent or tries to load in startup, my CPU usage shoots up to 50%+ and memory usage to 500mb.

I am running Win7 and this seems to be happening for the past 10 days. Last time i remember was updating it to the latest beta version.

Even after endtasking utorrent from the task manager, its the same story when i try to load it again or trying to uninstall or installing the stable version and only shows up after a couple of minutes.

Go to %AppData%\uTorrent and see if your settings.dat is very large.

If so' date=' kill uTorrent, then delete settings.dat and settings.dat.old.[/quote']

Hi: I hope it's ok to jump in here with the same issue. However, my settings.dat and settings.dat.old files were only 15kb, yet RAM usage by uTorrent keeps climbing well past 500Mb. Any thoughts?

  • 4 months later...

Have the same problem with high cpu!

I go to applicationdata/roaming/utorrent but i don't see any setting.dat file.

I see 4 folders (apps, Cache, dlimagecache, ie) from which Cache and ie are empty, and all the torrents i've ever added to utorrent.

(the size of them are 71MBs in total)

I paused all utorrent activity, but still it can go from 15-30%!

I'm running utorrent 3.2 on Windows 7 x64, and I have Panda Internet Security
