Joshmo62 Posted May 5, 2012 Report Posted May 5, 2012 I'm considering making my own torrents for my website, and I have some questions about them. - Once I make the torrent, where do the file pieces go exactly? Can I have my computer off and still have people download the file? - If the download goes through my computer itself, would I have to worry about some hackers that can get into my computer through it? - Will my torrent file ever become "useless" and unable to get the files? - And what's the "seed", "peer", "leech", and "tracker" stuff mean?

WLS Posted May 6, 2012 Report Posted May 6, 2012 I'm considering making my own torrents for my website, and I have some questions about them. - Can I have my computer off and still have people download the file?Yes, If whomever is downloading your torrent has received 100% of the file(s), and is continuing to seed the torrent. When that occurs you will see more than one seed in the seeds column. - Will my torrent file ever become "useless" and unable to get the files?Yes, if you stop seeding the torrent, or you move the file location.Yes, If whomever is downloading your torrent has received 100% of the file(s), and is NOT continuing to seed the torrent. Why host them on your own website when there are plenty of hosting sites available?
