jizam Posted October 16, 2005 Report Posted October 16, 2005 ISP filtering prevents seeding when download complete. Provide workaroundCertain Optimum Online/cablevision networks block peer seeding via "complete" bitfield message filtering. Allowing a "lazy mode" makes sure we never send a complete (seed) bitfield.
xirian Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Id like to see this too, azureus has it via a command line option: http://azureus.aelitis.com/wiki/index.php/CommandLineOptions If implemented, would be nicer to see it as an check box rather than a command line option like in azur.
Arapahoe Rappaport Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I don't have anything to add other than "please please oh please".
jizam Posted October 17, 2005 Author Report Posted October 17, 2005 I'd seriously pay for this to be implemented. Since a lot of ISP's are beginning to do this, I think many people would enjoy this feature down the road.
mcnabb Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 another vote for this option! azureus seems to be the only client to have addressed this problem. maybe abc did too.. many people that experience this problem don't even realize what's causing it. if utorrent could add this option i'd be soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy. please
Moitah Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Cox also started killing seeding recently. A workaround was added to BitTornado in 0.3.12 and newer that solves the problem for me.
jizam Posted October 17, 2005 Author Report Posted October 17, 2005 Not a huge fan of BitTornado, but it's nice to know it has a resolution. Really hoping the next version of utorrent has a fix.
winMX_67 Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Feature added in 1.1.6How do you know?
Ultima Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 I'm just taking a guess, but probably because he hangs out in the IRC channel, where news about future revisions from the devs come in real-time.
silverfire Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Because I already have 1.1.6? Click HelpCheck for updates to get it.
winMX_67 Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Oh, ok I wasnt trying to offend you or anything silverfire.
silverfire Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Nah, I didn't interpret it as such. I was just trying to help out
winMX_67 Posted October 17, 2005 Report Posted October 17, 2005 Alright, I just got v 1.1.6 where is the option to add uTorrent to the startup menu?
jizam Posted October 17, 2005 Author Report Posted October 17, 2005 silverfire: Best news I've heard in the torrent world for months. Thanks... and to the programmer- can't tell how much I appreciate it!
Ultima Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 Hrm didn't notice it was out... lol kinda sad...
Arapahoe Rappaport Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 I can finally get rid of Azureus. Thanks!
Arapahoe Rappaport Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 http://nz.neopages.org/spare/stuff/utorrent_lazypeer.jpgClick what you've highlighted, then change the value to "true". I had to restart uTorrent to get it working, but I'm not sure that's required.
jizam Posted October 18, 2005 Author Report Posted October 18, 2005 Is this new feature working for everyone? I tried seeding two torrents last night and each uploaded like 325 kb. I then opened Azureus this morning, started seeding the same torrent and the uploads took off for both. The value has been changed to true. And yes, I'm sad ;(
jizam Posted October 18, 2005 Author Report Posted October 18, 2005 Oddly enough, once I started Azureus and the uploads shot up, utorrent began uploading too (having both going at the same time, at the moment.) This is after it wouldn't upload for the last 6 hours.
mcnabb Posted October 18, 2005 Report Posted October 18, 2005 i carried this to the troubleshooting section. i'm having the same problem too.... thanks again for adding this option though - - hopefully there's a way to fix it, cause i love utorrent..
