Alexcny
I've been using utorrent for at least a year now without ever having any issues. Out of the blue I've started having trouble downloading torrents. I get the yellow icon in the bottom left that says no incoming connections. I also get the message that DHT is waiting to log in. The setup guide test runs smoothly and does not find any problems with either the bandwidth or the network sections. What is strange is that occasionally utorrent will work and start downloading torrents fine but maybe only one in 15 times that I try to use it. Sometimes the bottom right icon will turn green and other times torrents will download while its still yellow. If I actually get one torrent to start downloading and then try to download additional torrents only the first one will work. I haven't changed a single thing on my computer or on my network. I literally downloaded a torrent, went to work and came back to this problem. Thanks in advance for the help.

Roberta
My DHT started doing the same thing today. I hadn't changed a thing, and I had successfully downloaded something a couple of days ago and finished seeding it earlier in the day. Please note also: To try to solve the problem, I followed the Help directory's suggestion to make sure I had an up-to-date version of uTorrent. So I downloaded a newer version, and since doing that I still have the DHT problem AND I can't access the Help directory from the program OR by going into it from the Internet.Something is very wrong, and it's not on my end.By the way--I've been using uTorrent for well over two years. There have been periods when strange things occurred--such as the configuration test's selecting places all over the world when I'm just outside of Seattle. But this DHT problem has never occurred before, I didn't change any settings, and I haven't changed anything regarding security or firewalls.I will appreciate real help, rather than assuming I'm simply dim. Thanks.
Firon
Well, the DHT bootstrap service is working just fine, so... it's all on your end. If you use Peerblock, they block the bootstrap nodes (which is stupid).
Mac-the-Knife
You say you updated utorrent, was that to a stable version or a beta version. I believe the stable version is one of the 3.1 series, which, by the amount of posts on here, have caused people major problems. If you haven't done it yet then update to a 3.2 beta version. The added bonus is that you get to choose which files you want to download before they are installed in utorrent. I think it would be wise if one of the 3.2 series was actually classed as a stable version, if only for the fact that there doesn't appear to be anywhere near as many issues with them as there are with the 3.1 series, therefore it's worth getting everyone to move to one of them. Roberta
Thanks for the recommendation about the beta version. Counterintuitive, isn't it, that the beta version is stabler than the stable version. I reverted back to 3.0, but maybe I'll take a chance with the beta. And regarding the DHT, this was something that happened spontaneously. I hadn't changed one single setting. I finished up seeding a torrent, turned my proxy (Socks5) on, and then I downloaded another--a Demonoid torrent. Suddenly DHT wasn't working. It was after the DHT problem developed that I tried the new "stable" version.I've use the BTGuard proxy for three years. And I've never had a DHT issue before. When I did a search for DHT in the forum categories, I noted that several people reported spontaneous problems with their DHT doing exactly what it did to me--interminably "waiting to login."Anyway, thanks for the advice. Firon
BTGuard does not reliably support UDP traffic, which includes DHT. Only their VPN service does.
