Recommended settings for DL to a disk attached to WD TV

Hi.

I have a WD TV media player and an external hard-drive connected to it - using it as a kind of a network disk. When I'm trying to download larger files to it, it doesn't run smoothly - uTorrent frequently freezes and when I close it (via Task manager), it starts to check all the torrents I was downloading, which takes a lot of time and even when finished, the torrent is less downloaded then it was before it froze.

So - which settings would you recommend so I will have as few problems as possible and that it will run as smoothly as possible?
